Biography

Michele Chiumenti is a Professor of Mechanics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and a Senior Researcher at the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE). With over 25 years of experience in the academic and industrial sectors, his scientific itinerary focuses on the development of robust numerical methods, nonlinear finite element technologies, and advanced constitutive models in solid mechanics. In recent years, he has led pioneering research lines in the multi-physics simulation of metal forming processes including Casting, FSW, LPBF, DED, and WAAM, helping bridge the gap between academic theory and industrial optimization.
